Breaking: Craig set to resign
The latest report has Republican officials confirming that Senator Larry Craig will resign his seat tomorrow effective later on in September. Borrowing from a PB commenter, it appears the “other shoe” has dropped in the case. Craig’s bizarre denial wasn’t enough to withstand pressure from angry GOPers.
Bowing to intense pressure from his Republican colleagues, Sen. […]

Fred Thompson sets a date
This is big news by now across the wider political world, but we haven’t had the opportunity to comment on the Fred news until this minute. And that news is a firm date set by the Thompson “campaign” for Fred’s official announcement of his candidacy. It will come on September 6th via a web video - […]
The Buzz
Is it ‘06 all over again for the Republicans? A glance at the bevy of political scandals plaguing GOPers reveals that the situation is very bad indeed. Party insiders and even top Congressional members (see: Pete Hoekstrea) are dismayed and fed up with the indiscretions of their right wing colleagues and the tolerance for these problems […]

Edwards to SUV’s: “Drop dead”
A quote from Edwards on SUV’s and how much Americans should sacrifice to save the environment and kick the oil habit went unnoticed until today from his Orlando labor speech yesterday. We’ll let our readers judge for themselves if this is a little over the top for someone trying to be perceived as an ‘08 […]
Giuliani hits snag trying to attend 9/11 ceremony
A rare (for his current ‘08 campaign, mind you) well-publicized - and potentially harmful - snafu hits the campaign of GOP frontrunner Rudy Giuliani over the last day, and concerning an event that would seem to present no trouble for America’s Mayor: 9/11. His new moniker of “presidential candidate” is rubbing family members of 9/11 victims […]
The Buzz
Plenty of endorsements all around on the Democratic side of the 2008 race yesterday. Hillary Clinton and Chris Dodd picked up important union backing - Dodd from firefighters and Hillary from transportation workers - and Obama received the blessing of former Virginia governor L. Douglas Wilder, a revered figure in black politics. None of these […]
The Larry Craig saga
As we said this morning, there is really nothing more to add analytically to the bizarre case of Larry Craig’s “false”guilty plea and related melodrama. The entire affair is really available to evaluate at face value, unfortunately for Sen. Craig. We’ll just try to provide you with some updates and a place to discuss the […]
The Buzz
The Gonzales resignation hasn’t produced much more than a few yawns from jaded American voters and a flurry of triumphant victory speeches from Democrats of all stripes. It’s probable that their hoped-for bump in polling and in general public goodwill will turn out to be a no-go, and NBC’s First Read offers a good point […]
