The Buzz
- A brand new pre-debate poll out of New Hampshire shows Hillary with a solidly commanding lead over the rest of her Dem rivals. HRC leads Obama 41% to 19%, a huge margin in a state where she had been trending down as recently as a few months ago. While Iowans have never been comfortable with the entire Clinton family, Granite State voters like her “experience” and have yet to find a reason not to support her. This shows that even if Obama or Edwards (most likely JRE) were to pull off an upset in the Midwest, Hillary would still be able to breath easy as the primaries begin in NH.
- How bad did Rudy blow it with that “unsanctioned” 9/11-infused fundraiser (”$9.11 for Rudy”) ? Pretty badly. Despite the fact that his campaign has been condeming the event , that’s not enough for some, including the gleeful left wing blogosphere. Most importantly, this crude quasi-exploitation of the terror attacks is exactly what many voters - GOP and otherwise - have been dreading about Rudy’s run. This wasn’t his doing, but be sure that there will be some queasiness now every time he brings up his NYC record or the war on terror. Definitely a big headache.
- National Review Online makes excuses for the controversial move by the major GOP candidates to skip tomorrow night’s African American-themed PBS debate from Baltimore. Truthfully, this list of four “reasons” why the Republicans won’t be there sounds awfully weak and similar to the politically motivated move by the Democrats to boycott Fox News events.
