FOX News New Hampshire Republican debate: Preview
Posted on January 6th, 2008 by political buzz
The last debate before the New Hampshire primaries on Tuesday kicks off tonight at 8 PM Eastern on FOX News Channel. It allows us one last chance to see McCain, Romney and Huckabee mix it up before someone’s eliminated from the race. Nothing much different to watch for from last night, but here goes:
- Can Romney pick himself up from his poor performance last night? Might be tough to do with campaign burnout perhaps taking its toll. He needs to stop being a flimsy punching bag for the rest of the candidates and intelligently take the debate to the flaws of his rivals. Just spouting off attack ad scripts won’t do it. Substance is needed for NH voters to change their minds or for undecideds to decide on Mitt.
- McCain has given himself some breathing room after last night and more polls showing him with a solid six-point lead in the Granite State. He’ll be fine if she stays away from a serious debate on immigration and makes one or two witty jabs at Mitt’s record. Huckabee can be left alone again.
- Will FNC’s dreaded “anti-Thompson bias” rear its ugly head? Just kidding…
No liveblog tonight. Sorry, but last night was a momentous double debate on national TV. tonight isn’t. Analysis after the debate and tomorrow morning.
