Video: Not exactly “sniper fire”
The evening news brought some embarrassing moments for Hillary and her campaign, as CBS News ran a merciless story detailing the outright fabrications that HRC herself created in reference to her infamous 1996 trip to a post-war Bosnia as First Lady. Remember, this is the vaunted “experience” that the Clinton camp is basing her advantage over Obama on.
The CBS report is from a reporter who traveled with Hillary (ouch…) on that fateful visit. Through both the reporters recollections and the video story filed by CBS at the time, it is clear that none of the harrowing events described by HRC on the stump (”sniper fire,” running “with our heads down…”) ever happened on that visit - or any Bosnia trip by the former First Lady for that matter. It’s a very severe exaggeration. Or an out-and-out lie…
This controversy has become a much-needed advantage for an Obama campaign getting hammered over the Wright issue and the race speech (first bad, second good - but still unwanted attention on Obama’s “blackness”).
