Hillary bowls over Obama in West Virginia

Hillary currently leads 64% to Obama’s 28%. The margin much more than most pundits had predicted, tonight’s results give her plenty of ammunition to rebut critics who want her out of the race and cast serious doubt on Obama’s ability to heal the rift with white voters and coalesce those swing voters for the general - especially after the exit polls show almost 70% of WV Dems won’t vote for Obama in November. That’s bad.

Hillary is defiant after her win and milks the media frenzy for what it’s worth, declaring that she will continue in the race until victory is at hand.

“I am more determined than ever to carry on this campaign until everyone has had a chance to make their voices heard.”

Mentions that she will “work (her) heart out” for the eventual nominee, but this mild remark gets lost in the sea of enthusiasm for marching forward with the race. Veiled slaps at Obama abound, but she still keeps it cordial. Playing her cards in both directions. No talk of pulling out before June 3, Clinton surrogates and campaign members talking about potentially fighting Obama until at least Denver. Armageddon for the Dems could very well be at hand. McCain the instant 10 point favorite for the fall (unless HRC really does win)?

The media is eating up her win, boosting the impact of what is still a minor victory tenfold. With the press picking up on HRC’s defiant message and Obama’s startling struggles with whites, superdelegates are bound to wonder if they have made the right choice.

But will it matter? Will HRC seed enough doubt about Obama and new excitement about her chances? Those are the talking points for tomorrow.

  1. Hillary wants to seed reasonable doubt and buyer’s remorse into the minds of the remaining uncommitted delegates. If this were a court trial, her strategy remains - a direct appeal to the juror’s emotional depths… and this stuff about Hillary being so tenacious and strong willed for having stayed in the Democratic race for so long, please…. how about more like, it’s her ego and inner drive for power that’s really motivating her forward.

  2. Only 7 years after 9/11 and were considering a man less than a generation away from turban use as prez of the USA. This is horrible and I,m ashamed to be an american veteran who fought and became disabled to protect our freedom. This “being” or “entity” known as obama could very well be the antichrist or a “planted” arab seeking the highest station of the USA. I look at stickers and signs endorsing this person of no great accomplishments and feel absolutely sick with hate for anyone endorsing this fool. What the hell is wrong with you people? Maybe its time to piss on his party and show some balls by eliminating him and his friends by any means necessary to save our country. I feel that anyone showing support for him should be “open game” for real patriots.

  3. Thank God that Hillary is not giving up. The alternative for Democrats comes from the people who brought us 9/11.

  4. Mike -

A bit harsh, don’t you think? Isn’t a free and open Democratic system what America is all about? For anyone to participate in? Even if Obama was Muslim - which he is obviously not (no more than McCain is a fundamentalist LDS).
