Palin Snubs the Conservative Crowd, Pulls Plug on CPAC Appearance

In news more shocking than even the Dow’s massive 400-point drop today, Sarah Palin has suddenly decided to cancel her widely anticipated appearance at CPAC, the conservative mega-powwow held in Washington at the end of the month.

Conservatives had been excited by the prospect of both Palin and keynote speaker Rush Limbaugh potentially sharing a stage in D.C., but that dream died on Tuesday afternoon when news broke that the Alaska governor would not be coming. In a cryptic statement regarding the CPAC snafu, Palin only said that “duties of governing” were forcing her to stay away. Her decision prompted on unnamed conservative to say she was “making a mistake” by not attending and perhaps even jeopardizing her political future as the conservative superstar.

Was it because she’s had enough of the “Washington elites” after her book deal negotiations with D.C. power broker Bob Barnett and hobnobbing with President Obama and other Washington stars at the ultra-exclusive Alfalfa Club dinner earlier this month?

The opening-day headliner for the annual CPAC conservative convention February 26-28, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has pulled out, citing state business in Juneau. “We’re obviously disappointed,” said a CPAC official. A spokesman for the three-day confab, organized by the American Conservative Union Foundation and others, said that Palin, the popular former vice presidential nominee, had indicated she would be able to attend but cited “duties of governing” in bowing out. Instead, she will send in a taped message. The decision was clearly a blow to many of those planning to be there, who expected to see Palin address the group on the opening day and Obama foe Rush Limbaugh wrap up the convention. Limbaugh is confirmed to speak on Saturday, February 28. One conservative associated with the convention said Palin, who earlier this month attended the prestigious Alfalfa Club dinner, was “making a mistake” by not appearing in person. But another said that the taped message, while lacking the wow factor of an in-person presentation, showed that she was still keen on keeping close ties to the conservative movement as she builds her political action committee, SarahPAC, and considers her national career in politics.

The conservative blogosphere is mourning the premature death of what was billed as a “grassroots Woodstock” for the right-wing.

Where is Hillary Clinton……ask “Gen. Anthony C. Zinni, the former top American commander in the Middle East”. There is an interesting article on the Right side of the political blogosphere…Hillary has not been seen nor heard of since her swearing in by V.P. Joseph Biden…. the high profile enjoyed by the former SOS Rice under the Bush Administration, doesn’t seem to be happening for the former First Lady turned Secretary of State for the Obama Administration. Hillary not happy. Hillary get sucked in by Obama’s Change We Can Believe In. Hillary has ‘buyer’s remorse’….. link to http://www.dickmorris.com/blog entitled Hillary’s Incredible Shrinking Role….

I think Sarah cancelled because of EYEONPALIN.COM & she’s a chicken!!

Palin is scheduled to give a major speech in Washington, DC on February 26th. And we want to put the national spotlight on her support for aerial killing of wolves and the execution of helpless wolf pups, her equally outrageous slaughter of female brown and black bears and their cubs, her lawsuit to eliminate federal protections for imperiled polar bears, and her opposition to protecting imperiled beluga whales.

Palin’s clearly worried about our national public education campaign: She’s tried to tar the Eye on Palin campaign as the efforts of an “extreme fringe group.” But Palin’s aerial wolf-killing program has been repeatedly condemned by scientists, Alaskans and ethical hunters alike.

We’ve already gained the support of some 120 members of Congress to pass federal legislation to end her barbaric killing. And we will stop her.

If you had done your homework, you would have discovered that Gov. Palin had never said that she was going to attend this year. Unfortunately, CPAC is held during the 90 day Alaskan legislative session. Palin was invited to speak at CPAC last year as well, but was unable to attend for the same reason. It is not that she is any way snubbing them. She is, in fact, sending a video taped address. My bet is is that her video will attract far more attention, and comment than any of the speeches delivered by people who are actually there. It wouldn’t hurt to get your facts straight, and not depend on CNN, MSNBC, or some other unreliable source.

Lipstick on a Chicken has been posting his or her nonsense on every site he or she can.

As for eyeonpalin.com, it is just an offshoot of Defenders of Wildlife. Charitywatch gives DoW a grade of D, since the majority of the money it spends goes towards fundraising.
