“A Bill. To provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes.”

The statement above is how the 1,502 pages of the Senate Finance Committee’s America’s Healthy Future Act (i.e; health care reform) begin. You can see this for yourself as the entire legislative language of the bill is now posted online at the committee’s website in a handy PDF format.

You will obviously need patience to go through the entirety of the 1,502 pages, but it is all there. And you can both praise and blame Republicans for all of this.

It was GOP pressure during the bill’s mark-up process that caused Finance Democrats to settle on the idea of posting the bill. But it was also GOP partisanship and delay tactics that prevented Max Baucus from condensing the massive bill into a less gigantic format that would have been easier for the general public (and not just policy wonks or insurance lobbyists) to read and understand.

So read all 1502 here. And hope your computer doesn’t crash…
